Derryn Maade joined HSBC's Metals and Mining Research team in June 2013. He is a highly-rated analyst in both the Extel and Financial Mail surveys for EMEA Metals and Mining research. Previously he had worked as a mining engineer with senior roles in local and international production, technical and business development. He has an MBA from Imperial College in London and a BSc (Mining Engineering) from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Trevor Turnbull joined Scotiabank in 2006 to cover mid-tier and emerging gold producers. Mr. Turnbull is a geologist by training and spent nine years in the industry throughout North America and abroad.

Prior to starting with Scotiabank, he covered intermediate producers and emerging mining companies in the gold and base metal sectors with another investment dealer. Mr. Turnbull was recognized in 2017, 2016 and 2015 as part of the number one Gold/Precious Metals & Minerals - Small/Mid-Cap Team by Greenwich Associates. Also in 2015 he was one of the Top Ten Overall Stock Picker's in Canada as determined by Thomson Reuters StarMine.

Mr. Turnbull's experience includes several years with Newmont in Nevada and Peru, conducting production and exploration programs, and with Barrick at its Bulyanhulu underground mine in Tanzania.

Mr. Turnbull has an MSc in mineral exploration and an MBA from Queen's University, in addition to a BSc in geology from the University of New Mexico.

John Bridges was the senior analyst at JPMorgan covering the North American precious metals and coal space. He has been involved in precious metals stock analysis since 1984 and picked up coverage of the US coal producers early in 2001. Prior to joining JPM Chase and legacy companies John spent four years in a buy-side role working for Gencor, a diversified mining company and investment house in South Africa. John previously gained operating experience in senior line management positions at Gold Field's deep level South African gold mines, primarily at West Driefontein. John Bridges holds a Bsc and an Associateship from the Camborne School of Mines and an MBA from the Cape Town Business School, and is a CFA charter holder.

Brian’s research covers small and mid-cap gold stocks with a focus on producers and developers. Previously, Brian worked as a Mining Analyst at CIBC World Markets, most recently covering small and mid-cap gold and silver producers. In 2011, Brian was ranked in the top 3 in the Brendan Wood International survey for Small-Mid Cap Precious Metals Companies. Prior to that, he served as a metallurgist for various materials science and mining firms, including Bodycote Materials testing, and BHP Minerals. He joined BMO Capital Markets in 2012. Brian holds a Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering (Hons) from the University of South Australia, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, and is a Professional Engineer (Ontario).

Mike Parkin joined National Bank Financial in June 2017 and is ramping up his coverage of the large and mid-cap precious metal producers. Prior to joining National, Mike worked for four plus years at a Canadian broker and prior to that he worked for a top-ten global financial institution. Mike has an engineering degree from McMaster University and an MBA from Schulich School of Business. Mike is a member and license holder of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and received the 2012 Top Stock Picker Award for Metals & Mining and the 2013 Overall Top Stock Picker Award for Canada from Starmine.

Tim Wood has served as the Executive Director of The Denver Gold Group, Inc. since April 2011. Prior to joining DGG, Tim managed retail and institutional investment conferences in the U.S. and South Africa, including Mining Indaba. Tim also has extensive experience in publishing and publishing technology having founded several publications, and as an editor for several media enterprises.

He earned a graduate degree in International Relations, and a Diploma in Business Administration, both from the University of the Witwatersrand. He read for the degrees after completing compulsory military service as a combat artillery officer at the conclusion of the Angolan war.

Josh Wolfson is a Director, Global Mining Research at RBC Capital Markets. Prior to RBC Capital Markets, he joined Desjardins in 2017 as a Managing Director within the equity research department, with a focus upon precious metals producers, developers, and royalty companies. Prior to joining Desjardins, Mr. Wolfson spent 10 years in institutional equity research covering the mining sector. He was also previously with Eight Capital and Stifel Nicolaus. Mr. Wolfson is a CFA and has B.E.Sc, Electrical Engineering from Western University.

Kerry Smith worked for 10 years as a mining engineer in Western Canada before completing a MBA in 1992. After graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta, Kerry worked for several coal and copper companies in Western Canada. In 1992 Kerry graduated with honors from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with a Masters in Business Administration.

After graduation Kerry joined First Marathon Securities Limited, an independent institutional broker in Toronto, covering small and mid-cap gold, base metals and diamond equities. Kerry joined First Marathon Securities Limited as a mining analyst in 1992 and joined Haywood in 2001 as Senior Mining Analyst and Vice President. Today, he covers the gold sector primarily.

In 1997, Kerry was ranked top analyst, junior mining companies by an international survey and has since been ranked in the top 15 for the precious metals and diamonds sectors.

Kerry's focus is on growth oriented gold and base metal mining companies. He also coordinates the research efforts of Haywood's mining research team.

Ovais Habib has 14 years of mining equity research experience. He joined Scotiabank gold & precious minerals equity research team in November 2011, expanding coverage of junior and mid-tier gold exploration and producing companies. Ovais honed his knowledge of both small and large cap mining and exploration companies during his seven years of prior equity research experience at mining-focused investment dealers. Mr. Habib was recognized in 2016 and 2015 as part of the number one Gold/Precious Metals & Minerals - Small/Mid-Cap Team by Greenwich Associates.

James is a Vice President in the BofAML EMEA Metals & Mining team. He leads coverage of gold and PGM miners listed in Europe and South Africa. Graduating as a geologist he spent seven years in the mining including roles with Rio Tinto, Gold Fields and mining consultancy, SRK. On leaving the mining industry he joined GMP Securities in London, assisting senior analysts with equity research on the mining sector before moving to BofAML in July 2015.

Mike Jalonen is the North American Senior Precious Metals Analyst and Global Coordinator Metals and Mining Global Research with the firm of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Based in Toronto, Mike joined BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research in May 1989 as a gold analyst through the firm’s acquisition of Midland Walwyn. Mike was appointed Global Coordinator for the Metals and Mining group in February 2009.

Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Mike worked as a gold analyst with Dean Witter Canada for 18 months, as a financial analyst with Somicom Mining Management for close to two years and nearly two years as an exploration geologist with Nanisivik Mines in the Northwest Territories.

Mike earned a B.Sc. Honours in Geology from the University of Windsor and earned his MBA from McMaster University. Mike is a highly ranked analyst in the annual Brendan Woods survey of the Canadian precious metals sector. Mike is also a CFA charterholder.

Paul Hissey is responsible for RBC Capital Markets’ coverage of all Australian mining research and also leads the Australian equities research team. Prior to joining RBC in 2014, Paul Hissey was an institutional broker for four and a half years at a competitor and previously spent nine years in the mining industry working as a geologist in both base and precious metal operations in various geology and resource functions as well as consulting. Paul holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology (honours) and completed an MBA through the Chifley Business School in Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from Kaplan Professional.

Tara Hassan is an Equity Analyst with over ten years of experience in the Junior and Intermediate Precious Metals Sector, currently Director of Mining Content and Strategy for VRIFY.
Formerly Senior VP, Equity Analyst-Mining at Raymond James Ltd. for 3 years. She joined the Haywood Securities research team in 2012 to 2016. Tara has worked as a Mining Analyst for more than five years, with previous experience at National Bank Financial and prior to that at Toronto-based boutique

investment bank, M Partners. In these roles, Tara initiated coverage on junior mining companies, recording a high success rate of identifying takeover targets and substantially undervalued companies.

Before entering the financial services industry in 2007, Tara worked in the mining industry for Inco (now Vale) and Placer Dome (now Barrick Gold). At these companies, she held operating, engineering and project-focused roles, working at eight different mines and gaining experience in a wide variety of underground and open-pit mining situations. Tara is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Greg joined TD Securities in December 2005 as the firm's base metals analyst. He currently covers the Canadian large capitalization gold, base metal, and fertilizer mining companies and has been an equity analyst for 23 years. He has a strong background in the mining industry, having spent two years with Kennecott Canada, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, and four years with Falconbridge Ltd., where he was involved in corporate development and marketing. Prior to that, Greg worked as a geologist with an engineering consultancy firm. Greg graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Queen's University and received his master of business administration degree from York University in 1990.

Paul Burton is founder of Piran Mining Research in the UK. During his 40-year career in the mining industry he has worked both as an engineer and an analyst. He has just launched a new online, independent evaluation service of gold stocks for institutional investors under the banner of World Gold Analyst.
Paul graduated as a mining engineer at the Camborne School of Mines, in Cornwall, UK. He subsequently obtained an MSc in Mineral Economics at the University of the Witwatersrand, in South Africa, and an MBA at the Graduate School of Business, University of the Witwatersrand.

Philip joined PI Financial in September 2012 as a Precious Metals Analyst. He began his capital markets career after spending several years as an exploration and mining geologist throughout Canada where he gained extensive experience in grassroots and advanced underground exploration programs that included annual budgets in excess of $100M. Philip’s research is focused on advanced explorers and producers from across the globe and favours up and comers to the junior metals space with strong management teams and prospective geologic targets. Over the past year he has participated in over 20 site visits which saw him visit mining projects across North America, Mexico, Colombia, Turkey and Burkina Faso.

Phil is a registered Professional Geologist and holds an MBA from University of Alberta.
